Bangkok's three seasons
Cool season · November–February
Clear skies, low humidity and highs around 31–33°C. This is high season, so hotel prices rise 20–40% and the big temples are busy. Book ahead for Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year.
Hot season · March–May
Highs of 34–36°C and heavy humidity. Sightsee early, retreat to malls, museums or a massage in the afternoon, and head out again after dark. Songkran in mid-April turns the whole city into a water fight.
Rainy season · May–October
Most days still have plenty of sunshine; rain tends to arrive as an intense hour-long storm in the afternoon or evening. It's the cheapest time to visit and the city is green and lush. September is the wettest month.
Local tip: In rainy season, Grab prices surge the moment a storm starts. Plan to be near a BTS or MRT station around 4–6pm.
