Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok: Views, Prices and Dress Codes

Bangkok's best rooftop bars by area and budget — from the famous Sky Bar to relaxed local favourites — with what drinks cost, dress codes and the best time to go.

Illustrated rooftop terrace with tropical plants, citrus drinks, and a glowing Bangkok skyline.
Bangkok in color

Few cities do rooftops like Bangkok. A sunset drink 50 floors up, with the river glowing below and the skyline lighting up, is a must on almost every trip. Here’s how to choose, and how not to get turned away at the lift.

Before you go: dress codes are enforced, prices add service charge and VAT, and bars close their terraces during storms. Check opening hours and any reservation rules before heading up.

The famous ones

Sky Bar at Lebua (Silom / riverside)

The bar from The Hangover Part II, on the dome of State Tower above the river. The views are spectacular and the cocktails very expensive. Go for one drink at sunset, then move on.

Vertigo & Moon Bar (Sathorn)

Check before planning around it: at our 24 October 2026 source check, Banyan Tree’s own page carried a temporary-closure notice for Vertigo & Moon Bar, for refurbishment from 16 June onward, without a reopening date in that notice. Ask the hotel to confirm reopening rather than relying on an older venue list. Official Vertigo notice.

Mahanakhon SkyBar (Silom)

Near the top of King Power Mahanakhon, Thailand’s pixelated skyscraper. Combine it with the glass-floored SkyWalk.

Relaxed and great value

Octave (Thonglor)

On top of the Marriott at Sukhumvit Soi 57, with three levels and a 360° view. Less formal than the riverside bars and close to BTS Thong Lo.

Sky on 20 (Asok)

A friendly, lower-key rooftop on the Novotel Sukhumvit 20. One of the more affordable options, with a great view of the Sukhumvit skyline.

Red Sky (Siam)

Above Centara Grand at CentralWorld, right in the middle of the shopping district. Easy to pair with an afternoon at the malls.

Food with a view

Above Eleven (Sukhumvit Soi 11)

Peruvian-Japanese (Nikkei) food and cocktails on a leafy rooftop. A good choice for dinner rather than just drinks.

Tichuca (Ekkamai)

Known for its jungle-like décor and a glowing tree-like installation. Very popular, so expect to queue.

What it costs

These are broad planning ranges, not newly verified menu quotes. Check your chosen venue’s current menu, compulsory spend and final bill basis.

Typical price
Cocktail at a top-tier rooftop฿600–1,000+
Cocktail at a mid-range rooftop฿350–550
Beer฿250–400
Service charge + taxCheck the menu’s stated percentages and how they are applied

Saving money: check for a current early-evening offer, including its dates, exclusions and minimum spend. Do not assume an old happy-hour listing still applies. A “++” price can have service charge and tax added in sequence; it is not necessarily a simple addition of the two percentages.

Dress code: what gets you in

  • Men: long trousers or smart shorts (check the bar), closed shoes, a shirt with sleeves. No flip-flops, vests or sportswear.
  • Women: smart-casual. Avoid flip-flops and beachwear.
  • Bags may be checked; large backpacks are often refused.

Tips

  • Time it for sunset, around 6pm year-round.
  • Rain closes terraces. In rainy season (May–October), check the sky or pick a bar with an indoor section.
  • Check the age and ID policy. Bring the identification accepted by your chosen venue.
  • Check special dates. Alcohol service can be restricted on particular dates; venue licensing and exemptions vary. Confirm the position for the day you want to visit.

Combine a rooftop with dinner in the area: see the Silom, Sukhumvit and Thonglor guides. For music, food-led evenings and choosing the right area, read the full nightlife guide.
